In recognition of this sacred time, here’s a portion of a Davidic Psalm to help you lock in the meaning of the word sukkot and remind you that God is our constant shelter:
Psalm 31:19-24
[David to YHWH:] How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have performed for those who take refuge in You, before the sons of mankind!
You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the conspiracies of mankind; You keep them secretly in a shelter [b-sukkah בְּסֻכָּ֗ה] from the strife of tongues.
Blessed be YHWH, for He has shown His marvelous faithfulness to me in a besieged city. As for me, I said in my alarm, “I am cut off from Your eyes”; nevertheless You heard the sound of my pleadings when I called to You for help.
Love YHWH, all His godly ones! YHWH watches over the faithful but fully repays the one who acts arrogantly.
Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for YHWH!
