Revisiting WAR. Praying for Peace.

This week I had planned to look into the word thirst, and we will look at that word next week, but considering what is happening in Israel, I think the time you would normally take to read this blog would better be spent in prayer.

We should take some time to pray for civilians on both sides of this conflict. We need to pray for the Jewish people and the Palestinian people. We need to pray for our fellow Jesus worshipers, both Messianic Jews and Arab Christians who are caught in the middle of this conflict. We need to pray for those who have lost family members. We need to pray for the 126 (as of Oct.15/23) people who are being held hostage by Hamas. We need to pray for the soldiers who have put their bodies on the line in order to restore peace.

This is a terrible tragedy brought on by human hands and unbridled hatred. There is nothing Godly about this war. On the contrary, the Adversary (ha-Satan) is really enjoying the chaos and hostility that is coming out of this conflict.

War is a terrible human invention, brought on by tribalism and fear. God wants no part of it. But He loves His image bearers and He hates to see us suffer. YHWH created humans and gave us free will, and we have done a terrible job with it, but He still loves us and He wants to gather us in His arms and bring us home.

Do not think that God has turned His eyes away from what is happening. YHWH is watching and He, undoubtedly, grieves at what He sees. No matter what tribe or nationality we belong to, He is with all who call on His name… and He will have the last say in victory:

Isaiah 41:10-13

[YHWH:] “‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonoured; those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish.

You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, those who war [mil’kham’teka מִלְחַמְתֶּֽךָ] with you will be as nothing and non-existent. For I am YHWH your God, who upholds your right hand, who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’”

  1. Pray for the peace of Yerushalayim, Let those who love You be at rest. Peace be within your walls, Rest in your citadels. For the sake of my brothers and companions, I say, “Peace be within you.” For the sake of the House of יהוה our Elohim I seek your good.
    Tehillim (Psalms) 122:6‭-‬9 TS2009

יהוה bless you and guard you; ” יהוה make His face shine upon you, and show favour to you; יהוה lift up His face upon you, and give you peace.” ’ Thus they shall put My Name on the children of Yisra’ĕl, and I Myself shall bless them.
